Under 12 v Banc (away) Ded 7th PDF Print E-mail

Matchday 10 saw us travel away to Banc in what is probably our toughest opponents to date this season. Missing a couple of key players saw us make personnel & positional changes for what we already knew was a big strong & physical team.
We started strongly on the front foot on what was quite a boggy surface underfoot making running football quite difficult. Getting the upper hand in midfield with Keegan & Harvey winning their battles, striker Harri Arthur capitalised on a defensive mistake to go through 1v1 and slot past the keeper for a deserved 1-0 lead. Alex was pretty busy on the right wing and his fantastic skill going past the full back to whip a ball across the goal saw Liam Key hit the net, tapping in after the keeper spilled the cross for a 2-0 lead. Clearly enjoying themselves, the boys were dominant for the lead but a couple of lapses saw Banc waste a number of opportunities with Connor Woods making some smart & some brave saves at the feet of the Banc strikers.

Getting back on top and missing a couple of chances ourselves, Harri got his second goal of the game cutting back on his left to bend his shot high into the top corner from outside the box for a cracking goal & commanding 3-0 lead after 18mins.

Credit where it's due, Banc kept creating chances and got one back on 25mins with a long shot that skidded underneath Connor in goal and instantly made it 3-2 on 27mins with another shot from distance leaving Connor helpless with a wicked deflection. This pressure continued until halftime where we were fortunate to go in with a lead after making such a quick start.

Banc started the 2nd half as they finished the 1st by totally dominating us and created chance after chance and after bravely saving at the strikers feet again, Connor took 1 knock to many on 59mins and was replaced by an already injured Owen Packer who donned the gloves. Owen was powerless to stop the deserved Banc equaliser on 61mins, a great shot from distance finding the target. After making a handful of saves himself, Owen then took a knock & was replaced by a gutsy Connor Woods who bravely came back on for the cause as Banc continued to dominate...but a combination of wasted chances, the woodwork and brave & agile keeping as well as some gutsy defending & last ditch goal line clearances from Ianto, Charlie & Connor saw us get back into the game. With 20mins left, Kian Abbot took a knock and was replaced by Mati Diaz who went up front and Harri went wide right to take one of the big defenders with him and it was Mati's perseverance & determination to cause havoc up top that he forced a loose ball which fell to Harri who again cut inside a couple of defenders & smashed the ball into the bottom corner for a 4-3 lead with 5 frantic mins left.

Banc continued to create and waste chances and our keeper & defence continued to defend as if their lives depended on it. In the closing stages Liam, Keegan, Harri, Mati & Harvey smartly won possession and played to the corners to cleverly try & kill the game. Banc had a succession of last minute corners that flashed across the face of goal but as the final whistle blew, the boys knew they had played a cracking game of two halves with a lightning start & 3 goal lead followed by a bit of an onslaught to defend against which as players, coaches and as parents we can all be very very proud of the boys performance. Week by week we try and drill into them to play right to the final whistle and again they have proved to us & themselves that they have plenty of guts & heart for the fight to get results.
A fantastic display of finishing up top & even better defending saw us through when it mattered...well done boys and thanks to all the parents for the support on the day.
Roll on next week. ???????????????????????? ⚽️ ????
